"A Proud Day"
© David A. Ziser
Since we have a big Bat Mitzvah event this weekend, I'm posting a typical image from a previous Bat Mitzvah shoot. These images are always made on a different day than the actual event. The subject in not nervous or feeling rushed and we get to take our time moving around the temple creating many great shots. I always like showing the young Bat Mitzvah in the beautiful surrounds of the temple. Keep in mind this same composition and lighting would work equally well for a business portrait of the Rabbi too - so it's all really about the technique. The low angle (just like yesterday's image) together with the light, which happens to be coming from my assistant holding the off-camera flash shooting through a translucent umbrella, makes for the dramatic effect. Camera specs; Canon 5D fitted with Sigma 12-24mm lens at 12mm, F5.6 @ 1/20 second, ISO 400. Enjoy! -David
