From Analogue To Digital - Still A Master

Hey gang, if you have not been checking in with my buddy Jonathan Penny's blog periodically, you are missing the boat. He has this great series going entitled, "Creative Vision and The Print-maker." Jonathon has been a master print maker for years and is turning his artistry to the digital medium and Photoshop. Always a good read - check out Part 2 of his series right here.

Good Information - Better Printing

I was checking out some of my past links I had saved and came across my old PDIA link. PDIA used to stand for Professional Digital Imaging Association. It's goal was dedicated to helping photogs get better output from their digital printers. They eventually were wrapped into Lexjet - a great company selling ink-jet paper, ink, everything digital. Lexjet continued with "Great Output Magazine" - a really good source of the same info PDIA was focused on. Anyway, head over to "Great Output Magazine" on the net and check out all the past issues, archived articles, and Lexjet news. You can even sign up for their "hard copy" bi-monthly newsletter too. Good stuff here especially if you're considering incorporating your own output into your production. Enjoy!

Printing Your Own Stuff?

We have been doing all of our own printing for just about 5 years at David Ziser Photography - and loving it by the way. That includes all wedding images, wall portraits, fine art, and anything else we can think of. Let me know if you would like more articles on this topic - happy to oblige if there is interest. Anyway, here is a source of printer profiles for your Epson printers.

Pixel Genius has partnered with Epson America, Inc. in the development of custom profiles for Exhibition Fiber Paper for use with Epson Stylus® Pro Printers that use UltraChrome K3 Ink™ and UltraChrome K3 Ink™ with Vivid Magenta. In addition Pixel Genius has made available useful color management information and instructions on how to create the finest prints.
Here is the link for the Epson profiles.

Qimage Updated

Hot news if you print yourself - or rather - do your own printing. Qimage, my favorite print utility, has just been updated. This is just about the most useful program around if you want a very simple solution to complete control of your printing. We use it everyday at my studio. It's not quite a RIP, but then it's only from $49.95 to 89.95 . Wow! a wonderful program. Get the whole story and links over at Imaging - Resource right here.
