"Airport Abstract"

I captured this image on the way to the Baggage Claim area after arriving at Logan Airport last Wednesday. What's important about this shot is the lens I used. I called my buddies at Sigma - I'm a fan of their 8mm Fisheye on my Canon 7D and their super wide angle 12-24mm, especially on my Canon 5D Mk II. Well, they have just released their brand new 8-16mm super wide angle lens for the APS sized sensor cameras like my 7D. At 8mm, that's an unbelievable 114.5 degrees field of view - more later on the lens. Anyway, the super wide view now available with this lens on the APS sized sensor cameras really opens up some exciting photographic possibilities for those of us who enjoy shooting these cameras. This wide angle image captures a very contemporary part of the airport's architecture. With this lens I was able to capture the full view. A few tweaks in Lightroom 3 to "juice" the colors for the abstract effect completed the presentation. Camera specs: Canon 7D fitted with Sigma 8-16mm wide angle lens at 8mm, F 5.0 @ 1/50 second, ISO 100. Enjoy! -David

  1. Ah David I hope you will be doing a review on the 8-16mm Sigma!

It looks like a good lens thus far, but there are no decent reviews out yet.

I don't know if I want it for my D300, or save for the Nikon 12-24 and keep my lenses for a potential full frame change.
Look forward to hearing back from you!
