Remembering Independence Day

Good Morning Everybody,

I hope every one had a very happy and safe 4th of July celebration yesterday.  A lot of folks have today off as well, me included.  In fact we are doing a weekend family gathering a little later today.

Flag AmericaI didn't want the weekend to go by without honoring what the Fourth of July means to many of us who are so blessed to live in this great country.  During our travels on our lecture tours, LaDawn and I mostly drive from city to city.  We pass the time listening to recorded books on American history.  Anything David McCullough writes, 1776, John Adams, et al. are always fantastic.

The thought that I keep coming back to as we listen to the exciting history of our country with all it's twists and turns of events is, "It's a miracle we are a country."  The United States of America certainly has had a special guardian angel watching over it these many years.

Anyway, for today's post I'd like to point you towards an article that tells the rest of the story of the 56 signers of our Declaration Of Independence.  Here is the link right here.  Did you know that John Adams and Thomas Jefferson both died on July 4, 1826, the 50th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. It is a fascinating read.  Take a minute and enjoy it.
