"Afternoon In White"

"Afternoon In White"
© David A. Ziser

Here is another image I took during my Tuesday Master Class. This is a long shot down the Orlando Convention Center. I used long lens and wider aperture to throw the background out of focus isolating right on the bride. The slower shutter spread pushed the tonalities into a higher key adding to the impact of the shot. The direction of light was created with my off camera Quantum. Camera specs; Canon 40D fitted with 70-200mm lens at 180mm, F5.6 at 1/125 second, ISO 400. Enjoy! -David

  1. David,
That is such a beautiful shot, it's so simple and it has a real feel of purity to it. The lighting is just beautiful and despite the limitations of web browsers the colour (european spelling) balance is spot on.
One quick question, what did you use on your quantum, a brolly? Softbox? Bounce? Someones shirt :)
    Steve.

  2. Just a note to say that I really appreciate the details you include on a shot like this. Talking about the settings as well as why you used those settings is immensely helpful to someone like me that is trying to understand and improve my photographic skills. Thanks so much.

  3. David - Your images are outstanding. You indicated "The slower shutter spread pushed the tonalities into a higher key adding to the impact of the shot". Is there a method/formula which would help in making this technique predictable across the color spectrum or with varying light levels.

  4. I see the first comment is similar to mine, Did you soften the light from the Quantum? Beautiful shot. Stumbled across your blog a while back, really enjoy the details you give about the how I did this.
