New Canon 7D

OK - that's the latest rumor over at Crave's Blog. Seems someone caught a newly issued UPC Code going to Canon for a new camera proposed to be their new upgrade from the 5D. How do people find these stories. Anyway, read at your own risk of buying into the rumor mill. If you Crave this kind of news, the entire story is right here. I've got to hit the road and do some more real work, everybody have a good one. See you tomorrow. --David

  1. David, it's well known that big foot was caught taking a picture of the Loch Ness monster with a 7D. This was verified by Elvis who is working at a lab in Atlantis.

  2. Hello David,
I asked your Canon rep and she said no plans in sight for the next version of the 5D but that the European market often has different model numbers from the US. What my cousin may have seen in Europe could have been anything.
Obviously I am reading your blog. It's on my toolbar. Keep it coming.

  3. Just wait, you will see these rumors are all true. I know for sure - I've checked my Ouija Board and made a personal call to my friends over at the Psychic Network. They are all with me on this :~) --David

  4. Just when I get the 5D under control, the rumor mill wants to upgrade the model to a 7D.... ok. I think some one has been sitting outside in the cold too long.

  5. The new canon 7D looks just like the 5D. All canon did is change the 5 to a 7 and raise the price. Good marketing ploy, ....I guess.

  6. The new 7D is actually the D700, same as 5D, plus:

    - weather sealed camera, strong body
    - 14 bits color depth
    - a flash
    - live view
    - virtual horizon
    - 51 points AF
    - 1/8000~30 sec shutter
    - 5~8 FPS
    - up to 25600 ISO
    - 3" 920000 pixels LCD

    oh, and it's from Nikon...

  8. I was complaining to a Canon rep that, though the 5D is a wonderful camera, I was extremely disappointed that it had fallen so far behind Nikon in features because it had not been updated recently. The Canon rep said to keep an eye out for something coming in the couple of months. He quickly added that he shouldn't have even said that. So, take that for what it is worth.

  9. It's really no surprise...the 5D has been on the market for some time now.

    1) the bar code comes from someone who's trying to learn MS word but hasn't found out how to change the font yet.
    2) EVERYONE knows Canon is going to present 2 (!) new cameras between the 40D and the 1D at PK! Stay tuned if you dont believe me ;)

  13. Actually canon says it takes a lot from the 1D and 5DmkII with lots of improvements, 19p AF, dual layer 8 bit processing, the first semi-pro EOS ever to sport dual digic iv processors and the fastest crop camera busting 8 FPS, the gapless microlenses has been redesign and place closer to the photodiodes to capture more light and less croma noise, first in the xD line to sport infrared sensor for remote shotting and first ever EOS camera with integrated infrared commander for creative lightning system (hooray) and more and more .. so take yor conclusions and do and overall comparison, lab images in image-resources shows that it beats the d300 and d700 in IQ , so no competition from Nikon in this New League of is own ! yeahh baby ..EOSSSSSSSSSS !

  14. Mr. Ziser, I noticed this on your blog. I just bought the Canon 7D, replacing my wonderful XSi, and absolutely love it. I think it is like I promoted myself with this baby. For anybody interested, I posted my first photos with the Canon 7D along with a short video at http://thecogentcommunicator.blogspot.com/

By the way, I saw you at the NAPP in Las Vegas and also took your one day class in Phoenix. I will be back next time you come to Phoenix. GREAT instructor and photographer!!!
