It might not be Westminster Abby, but this is certainly a magnificent setting for a wedding.  The location was, a one time, an old St. Paul’s Catholic Church that was sadly closed by the diocese several years ago.  It was renovated into what is now known as the Verdin Bell and Clock Museum Event Center.

It has become quite a popular venue for weddings in the Cincinnati, Ohio area.  You can see why from the dramatic feel of the location captured in this image. I love the soaring stain glass windows and the wonderful architectural arches and colors of the ceiling.

Part of that dramatic look was the result of the super wide optics I was using for this image.  From the back of the aisle, I framed up the shot, tilted the camera up to include as much of the ceiling as possible while still framing the “anchor” elements you see in the foreground.  I needed to keep them in the composition for the proper visual balance of the finished composition.

Some slight tweaking in Lightroom brought the bright areas of the ceiling and windows under control to finish the presentation. BTW, this is an image from the wedding of the young lady featured in last Thursday’s post [link].

Camera specs: Canon 5D Mark II fitted with Sigma 12-24mm lens at 12mm, F4.5 @ 1/40 second, ISO 6400.  Enjoy!  -David
