Quick Hit Monday: Gobbler’s Knob, Tours Galore, Last Day For KPPA Webcast

Good Afternoon Everybody,

Fall ColorsIMG_9561 This is the post that almost did not make it up today. We arrived home about 5 p.m. on Saturday and, I have to say, it felt good to climb out of the Grand Caravan after 7 hours on the road that day.

We got everything unpacked, visited with a few friends that came by, and just relaxed on our deck enjoying the fall colors and wonderful 70 degree weather. I was looking forward to getting blogged ahead leisurely on Sunday and preparing for my Digital Master Class on Monday - today.

Anyway, the best laid plans, as they say were cast aside, as I came down with a 24 hour "bug" that kept me in bed for most of the day - yuck! I was just hoping I would be recovered enough by Monday morning to make the class.

To make a long story short, Whatever I had lifted and I feel pretty good this morning. The down side is that I lost an entire day and now am a bit behind on my DPT blog for this week. No problem, I'll give it my best shot and see if we can get things back on schedule as the week progresses.

Anyway, here we go...

Punxsutawney and Beyond,

Ok, you're wondering where in the world is Punxsutawney? It's sort of in the middle of Pennsylvania [link]. Here is a bit of the back story for our visit to Punxsutawney. We headed out from Boston about 11 a.m. Friday morning and trekked across the country deciding to pull over and spend the night about 7 hours later in a little town by the name of Dubois, PA.

Trip HomeIMG_9626 As I surveyed the map of the surrounding area, I noticed that Punxsutawney, PA was only a few miles away. So what in the world happens in Punxsutawney? It's right here Every February 2 in Punxsutawney that Punxsutawney Phil predicts the weather. You know, if he emerges from his his temporary home and sees his shadow he heads right on back into his hole and we have 6 more weeks of winter. And, if he doesn't, Spring is right around the corner. Phil has never been wrong!

Trip HomeIMG_9665 I have to say, it was kind of fun living the legend as we explored the town the next day, met Phil at the local library, and even headed up to Gobbler's Knob, to see where all the excitement takes place.

Next we pointed our GPS back home and headed west once again. Only one small hitch. I think our GPS thought we wanted to take all the back roads of Pennsylvania as we found ourselves not seeing an expressway for the next few hours.

The upside, the drive was about the most beautiful we have made. We found ourselves in some of the most beautiful rural countryside we have ever seen. The hills were alive with the sound of fall color, blue skies, and wide open rolling green hills.

Trip HomeIMG_9670 We passed right through Smicksburg, PA [link] an Amish community, and it was definitely a step back in time to see their horse and buggies making their way down the road. All in all, it was a great detour.

Few Quick Updates

I've got my class beginning in just a short a while so I want to give you a few quick updates on a few items and then I've got to head to class. Here we go.

PhotoFusion Revolution Tour:

PhotoFusion Revolution I gave a call to my buddies Clay Blackmore and Jeff Medford during our drive back home to see how their tour was going. Jeff tells me all was going great and folks are loving the HD video segment.

That's only a small part of their program. Clay is one of the top shooters around and spends quite a bit of time in his program showing you how to shoot just about anybody. Their tour is called PhotoFusion Revolution and you can get all the information right here. Wait, there's more - use PROMO Code CBTL2010 and you will save yourself $20 bringing the ticket price down to only $59.

Westcott's Top Pros Tour:

Top Pro Tour Yep, this is another tour taking place as we speak around the country. I'm presenting for Westcott on November 15, 2010 right here in Cincinnati, Ohio [link]. I contacted Westcott today and good news, use special PROMO code TPT7271 to save $20 bucks on registration. Check out their site right here – lots of info and video highlights.

The Design Road Show With Graphic Authority

GA Show Hey gang, this is the season for learning. My good buddy, Charlie Mosher, CEO of Graphic authority wanted me to remind you about the Graphic Authority Design Road Show which is getting RAVE reviews and coming to a city near you. Even one of the students in my Master Class attended 2 weeks ago, said it was great!

Here is the kicker. This is a HANDS ON presentation limited to a very small numbers of attendees that want to take their design skills to the next level. Here is the link to all the info. For all my Kentucky DPT readers, the GA Road show hits Louisville, KY and Covington, KY this week. Be sure to check out all the info right here.

Worldwide Webcast DVD Only Available Till October 31, 2010

KPPA Webcast Logo That's right, you only have two more weeks to pick up one of the most jam packed DVD's on wedding photography, high school seniors, and family portraits [link]. About 3 weeks ago, our state association, the Kentucky Professional Photographers hosted a fabulous webcast with three of the top photographers in their field. The audience response was phenomenal. I hosted and recorded the webcast for the KPPA so we could make it available for only $29 for all those who couldn't attend. You can check it out right here. It will only be available till the end of the month. Don't miss this great learning opportunity.

Hey gang sorry for the late post today – we are just hammered getting things ready for the class and our class Welcome Party tonight. So, that's it for me today. I'm running late for class. How about I see everybody again tomorrow.

Got to go, David

  1. I looked anxiously at the schedule for the Graphic Authority Road Show and was disappointed not to see it on the East Coast, like Philadelphia or New Jersey or even New York.

Any chances that could be arranged ?

  2. David, the promo code for the Wescott tour keeps kicking back as invalid. Any updated code?

  3. David.

I think there was a misprint on the promo code for the wescott tour. I searched the web for some other promo codes and found that they started with TPT not PPT, as yours did. Tried yours as TPT7271 and it worked (would not work as PPT7271). Just figured I would give you a heads up.
