"Somewhere In Time"

"Somewhere In Time"
© David A. Ziser

One of my favorite images from yesterday's shoot. The sun was setting and was obscured enough by the clouds so as to not completely blast the highlights away in the sky. I headed over to Lightroom for a 60 second tweak to darken the sky, goose the colors, and add a slight vignette further enhancing the attention on the couple. The couple was back-lit with my Quantum strobe at half power - about 100 W.S. The location, colors, composition combine for a very ethereal image that does, in fact, suggest somewhere in time but that time frame is indeed elusive. Camera specs; Canon 40D fitted with 10-22mm lens at 15mm F 5.6 @ 1/160 second, ISO 200. Enjoy! -David

  1. David. Knock out shot. Looks like water coming down the steps.
You have nothing to worry about business wise. People still want the best, and WILL pay for it.
    Great blog as always.

  2. Oh my..."Uncle!" I give up. You win.
That is one of THE most beautiful photographs I have ever seen.

I am thankful you are not anywhere close to Montgomery, AL.

I need to check to see if Home Depot is hiring.

(to self: do not get discouraged, use this photograph for inspiration and DO NOT give up)

  5. Really cool David. O like the color and mood. Are those steps water?

You seem top really love the grand landscape style portrait. You should start playing with HDR for those types.

  6. It is stunning! This is the first time I commented on your site, but I enjoy checking it out every day. This photo really makes me ponder how I can get more of an "ethereal" effect in my own photos. It seems like I am often caught up in the what it really looked like as opposed to what it could look like. Thanks!

  13. Ha ha ha, "Please Ziser don't hurt 'em."

Inspiring is one thing, making people give up is another!

You're like Stevie Ray Vaughn with a camera... watch out for helicopters.
