"The New GM"
© David A. Ziser
Here is an image I made at Photoshop World during my Wedding Shootout. It was one of the last of the day. We got back to Mandalay Bay which is just a photographic treasure trove of compositional possibilities.
I asked our groom to take up a position on the staircase heading back down to the registration area of PSW. Look at the leading lines in this composition – both railings lead the viewer’s eye right to our main subject. His head is framed between the staircases and the architectural elements to his right. He is also positioned mostly in the bottom right quadrant of the scene.
All elements come together for a great portrait of this handsome young man who just possibly does look like the new General Manager of the casino.
Lighting was from my Z-Ray flashlight coming in from camera left. The Z-Ray, being a constant light source, makes it really easy to get the loop lighting pattern just right on the subject. A tweaking of the densities in Lightroom and Photoshop finished the image.
Camera specs: Canon 5D Mark II fitted with 12-24mm Sigma at 16mm, F 5.0 @ 1/15 second, ISO 2000. Enjoy! -David
p.s. Running late again today gang. I’ll try to get the rest of the post up later or maybe it will be tomorrow at the latest. -David
