A few years ago while visiting Baton Rouge, LA we were fortunate enough to have the time and a wonderful tour guide and friend, Larry Weaver, take us on a tour of the old State Capital of Louisiana. The place was spectacular and beautiful on the inside. It is one of the most distinguished examples of Gothic architecture in the United States.

I took this shot as we ascended the steps to the second floor - as you can see, the view was breathtaking. The play of rich colors against the spiral staircase offers a visual feast of composition. If I'd only had a bride.......

Colors were tweaked a bit in Lightroom but just enough to preserve the rich feeling of this spectacular interior.

Camera specs; Canon 5D Mark II fitted with 24-105mm IS lens at 24mm, F4.0 @ 1/25 second, ISO 500. Enjoy! -David

  1. I live very near Baton Rouge and have not been inside the capitol, but this shot makes me want to go visit. Thanks for posting it.
