What's on her mind when a bride walks down the aisle, how's the groom feel as the big day approaches, what's their story together - these questions, when considered properly can make us better wedding photographers or better "people" photographers in general.
Over at one of my favorite sites - Media Storm - one of my "watering holes" for creativity and passion - is a beautiful story about a young couple. These college students are on the cusp of a successful life for themselves - Matt has just won the prestigious College Photographer of the Year contest - and then things change - Melissa, our bride, finds herself pregnant. This media presentation, "Love in the First Person", shows how Matt and Melissa, with the help of their friends and family, document the first year of their lives together including their wedding. The story, I think, should speak to all of us as wedding photographers because it gives us glimpse into the hearts and souls of some of our potential clients. It opens us up to seeing our clients as more that Package One, Two, or Three. With this different vision, let's say one of greater sensitivity, I think we can bring to our photography a much better and sensitive perspective as we document their wonderful day. Here is the link to "Love in the fist Person." That's it for today, everybody.
Enjoy the weekend, and I'll see you here Monday! -- David
Hah, I didn't realize you were talking about Matt Eich until you mentioned that award. I met him when he had an internship out where I live...hugely creative photographer, that project sounds just like him.
