"The Sedona Experience"

You knew I had to post a photograph of the most popular vista in all of Arizona, Cathedral Rock. We headed over to Oak Creek to find the best spot for Cathedral Rock’s reflection in the water. The water was flowing pretty fast and the stiff breeze kept rippling the waters which made the reflection of the distant vista less than optimum. No problem, the view was still spectacular.
We headed over at about 5 p.m. in the afternoon and stayed till the sun’s light dropped off the red sandstone, about 7:30p.m. What a great place to shoot! I asked Yesenia to step in for this photograph and positioned her at nodal point #1. I also positioned her so that the curve of the flowing waters would flank her in each side. Cathedral Rock’s brilliance in the background completed this very cool portrait.
Lighting was simple, my off-camera flash camera left at 1/2 power – no Zumbrella – but still positioned to give me the very dimensional loop lighting pattern on her face. Yesenia’s easy pose and happy expression worked just right for this image.
Camera specs: Canon 7D fitted with 18-200 IS lens at 24mm, F11 @ 1/160 second, ISO 200. Enjoy! -David

Hey gang, we just wrapped a great class at my first Sedona Experience and just had a blast! The two days of shooting was although a bit tiring, it was mostly a very exhilarating experience for everyone.
I still want to give you a bit more of a recap, but today has just gotten away from me due to a few unexpected changes of plans this afternoon. I’ll plan to get the regular Business Day Thursday post up maybe over the weekend – just keep checking back.
On that quick note, I’ve got to run. It’s pretty late in the day and it’s been quite a day ;~) Look for another fabulous Image of the Day post tomorrow too.
Hope to see you then.
Adios Everybody, David
