I love this image and so did the client. You know, it kind of frustrates me when I hear other photographers talk about how there is no room for beautiful portraiture as part of the wedding coverage. Good wedding photography is in the eye of the beholder. And, believe it or not a lot of wedding clients love this kind of classic imagery.

That was the case for this beautiful bride. The wedding event was a destination shoot in Key Largo, Florida a few years ago. We scheduled the bridal portrait shoot on Thursday afternoon before all the festivities kicked off on Friday.

When doing destination weddings, I pack a little lighter than usual. The lighting set up for this image was as easy as it could be. I pointed my radio controlled Canon 580EX2 flash through my Zumbrella and shot away. You can see the entire set up in a lengthy post on the shoot right here. Be sure to check out the article links too.

Oh, another thing.  This is a completely un-retouched photograph – yes, the bride was that beautiful. And, dare I say – the image was shot in JPEG mode.  Just thought you would like to know ;~)

I worked the light to give me the flattering loop lighting pattern on her face I so often desire. Beautiful bride, beautiful image!

Camera specs: Canon 40D fitted with 24-105mm IS lens at 84mm, F5.6 @ 1/160 second, ISO 200. Enjoy! -David

  1. David, I'm stunned by the quality of the picture. Did you mean no retouch at all? Her face looks as smooth as porcelain. And the colors, framing and composition are just amazing. Congrats!

  2. Thank you for everything David...You inspired me to become a wedding photographer.....

  3. Excellent picture Dave, hey a request has been sent to you because I added you as a friend on facebook and that was almost 2 months ago;)

  4. Why can't we see this one at the larger size when we click on it like the other images that you post?
