"Summer Love"

I think the title of this image is easily conveyed in the image presented here.  The beautiful blue sky, the easy pose, the nice lighting, and beautiful setting captures a wonderful moment for this couple. Technically, it was a little challenging to accomplish. Positioning the couple for their best placement against that beautiful sky meant that they were directly illuminated by the late afternoon sun. The way the sun was falling on they're faces was not optimum.  I choose to use a 48" translucent panel to block the sun's rays from falling upon the couple.  That first step in the process placed the couple is a very soft directionless light.  I had my assistant fire up the Quantum and bounce it into the translucent panel to add a directional light on the couple for step two.  Next, step three, I reduced the output of my on camera flash so the the shadows could be opened up and appear less contrasty. This simplistic image actually required a lot of lighting gymnastics. Camera specs; Canon 40D fitted with 10-22mm lens at 14mm, F5.6 at 1/640 second, ISO 200Enjoy!  -David

  3. I was in your session Wednesday night in St. Louis! I have set through a number of seminars through the years as I have been very blessed to have had many different career opportunities. Your seminar was my first photog seminar, and I was super impressed! I even won the first door prize and I NEVER win anything! Blessings to you and LaDawn in your travels! Cheri

  4. I like the cloud formation above the couple. It almost looks like an angel spreading its wings.

  5. I'm not sure I get what you did. You said you had the assistant block the sun with a translucent panel and then you bounced the quantum off it?
