"Stained Glass Glory"

"Stained Glass Glory"

Yesterday we were fortunate enough to have the time and a wonderful tour guide and friend, Larry Weaver, take us on a tour of the old State Capital of Louisiana - the place was spectacular and beautiful on the inside. It is one of the most distinguished examples of Gothic architecture in the United States. I took this shot as we ascended the the steps to the second floor - as you can see, the view was breathtaking. The play of rich colors against the spiral staircase offers a visual feast of composition. If I'd only had a bride....... Camera specs; Canon 5D Mark II fitted with 24-105mm IS lens at 24mm, F4.0 @ 1/25 second, ISO 500. Enjoy! -David

  1. Dave - great photo ... just curious what your priority was on settings, iso or f-stop or shutter speed. At 1/25 I would be worried about blur assuming you are hand holding. Can you share you thoughts on how you arrive at your settings.

Thanks and see you at your Cincy DWC on June 9th ! I can't wait.

  2. My daughter took this exact shot not even one month ago. Hers lacks the beautiful magenta hues. What time of day did you shoot?

Cliff Francois - although I suggested you go to Drago's in Metairie for the grilled oysters, I'm glad you stayed in Baton Rouge instead and got this a great great shot. The seminar Tuesday evening was outstanding. Jeanie and I learned a ton and can't wait to use the tips and techniques. Godspeed to your group and have a safe trip the rest of your tour.

Thanks for the marketing tips, and it was worth it just to get hooked up with your printer because there price on calendars is awesome.
