She isn't a 'company'. She is a highly skilled writer, and if brides choose to book her services, that shouldn't take anything away from the photography. Why would you offer that service too? Would you arrange flowers on the side? Make dresses on the cheap? Or would you go to the local college for a bride and get one of them to make a cake to undercut a fellow professional? I would be nice if you didn't endorse people taking Emma's idea.
If any photographer out there wants to be a writer too, then good luck to em. I thought a picture spoke a thousand words. Isn't that enough?Lizhttp://www.lizzy-may.co.uk/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17534827.post-51440846925047293812011-06-30T19:59:17.517-04:002011-06-30T19:59:17.517-04:00'Heck, aren't we the ones telling the stor...'Heck, aren't we the ones telling the story visually anyway? Why not just add words to our mix?'
Because you're photographers, not writers. The bride and groom hire you to take the photographs, not wander around with a notepad.

This should be left to a talented writer who specialises in this service and is dedicated to that particular aspect of the day, rather than just trying to piece something together yourself to squeeze as much money out of your clients as possible.

P.S - if you're going to rip off another companies idea it's not really the best move to tell the whole world about it via your blog!Leah Golden Applehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10411689541852131946noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17534827.post-41144580012307018282011-06-30T19:29:47.767-04:002011-06-30T19:29:47.767-04:00Hi David,
This blog post has been drawn to my att...Hi David,

This blog post has been drawn to my attention, so thought I'd hop in and leave a comment.

Just a couple of things, firstly, I've never billed any of my blog posts as "10 Wedding Tips For Brides and Grooms" - I think you refer to this post? http://www.lovemydress.net/blog/2011/06/top-tips-for-newlyweds-engaged-couples-and-brides-to-be.html :)

Also, I simply had to leave a comment in relation to the suggestion to your readers {presumably photographers, mostly?} that they could offer a wedding reporter service to their clients - like that provided by Emma Woodhouse, whose business 'The Wedding Reporter' I am currently helping to promote via my blog, Love My Dress. I can't help but feel sad that you have taken Emma's lovely idea and are suggesting other's try to replicate this idea themselves? Emma is a naturally very talented writer who is incredibly passionate about what she does. She immerses herself fully into the wedding day experience and produces a written account that beautifully reflects the day. No "war and peace accounts" here! The energy she pours into her written accounts equates to rather a lot more than this description ---> "hitting the computer, checking out your last really cool wedding and writing about it. Once you've completed the writing, add a few images that help support the highlights of your story." Goodness gracious if it were that easy we would all be doing it! ;))

Sorry, I had to leave this comment as I felt the tone somehow belittle's Emma's work, which I think is beautiful and truly heartfelt. She is bravely offering a service that no one else is within the UK, certainly as far as I am aware anyway. I'd hate to think folk out there are undermining this somehow and jumping on her idea to her detriment, purely for their own benefit.

No problem people trying something new, but let's stick what we do/know best and let those that excel in the written word do what they love.

Thanks so much for following my blog.

With very best wishes,

AnnabelAnnabel - Love My Dress Wedding Bloghttp://www.lovemydress.netnoreply@blogger.com
